How do you Medicate?

In today’s society we are face with many challenges that create a stressful and harmful environment. Many of us are predisposed to fail due to all the labels we are given throughout our life. It all begins at birth when we are given our first label, the label that we are going to carry around for the rest of our life, our name. It will continue with the second and most harmful label, our race, followed by our religious beliefs, color of our skin, etc. By the age of ten we have already forgotten who we are and that we are all part of the one and only universal race, the human race.

Unable to deal with the stress of carrying around all the labels society inflicted on us, we decide to numb our feelings and we begin to self-medicate.
There are many ways to medicate, including:

  • Alcohol Abuse
  • Over Eating
  • Drug abuse
  • Compulsive shopping
  • Sex addiction
  • Cutting

These are only a few of the many destructive ways humans self-medicated. The sad part is that these trends are passed down from generation to generation with no intention of breaking this cycle of self-destruction. We are slowly killing ourselves and blaming society for our so called bad luck instead of our choices. We spend our entire life attached to the very same things that are making us miserable and destroying our existence.

Most people never really live, they simply exist. They live their entire life in fear of being their authentic and beautiful self. Destroying their self-esteem, they become very insecure about everything they do in life. When you allow your fears and insecurities to dictate your life, you forget the reason for your existence. You lose yourself in the fear, breaking all connections with your inner self, your Source.

The good news is that you don’t have to continue on the path of destruction. You can still medicate but this time you will do it in a healthy and positive way. Making the shift from living your life base on fear to unconditional love and gratitude will be the greatest reward you can accomplish.

There are many safe ways to medicate, such as music. With the right music, your energy can shift in a matter of seconds. Nature is a free and healthy luxury we take for granted all the time. Changing your thought through positive affirmation can bring abundance and happiness into your life. And how about the gift of relaxation? Relaxing our mind with meditation or massage therapy has many benefits which includes reducing your stress levels, improving your concentration, encouraging a healthy lifestyle, and increases self-awareness and happiness. It also benefits cardiovascular and immune health.
Are you ready to change your life? I challenge you to take action changing your attitude one thought at a time. Meditation is the only path to happiness. Why not give meditation a chance to improve not only your health but also your life.

Namaste,
Nancy
